One of the biggest blocks to financial abundance, prosperity and even general happiness isn’t found in your bank account, it’s found in how you see yourself. When you unconsciously minimize your self worth, you create invisible barriers that stop wealth, opportunity, happiness and even love from flowing into your life. The truth is, abundance doesn’t just respond to effort, it responds to energy. If your energy is rooted in lack, fear, low self-worth or self-doubt, then no matter how hard you work, you’ll keep bumping up against limits.
Here are some ways you may be blocking abundance without realizing it:
1. Undervaluing Your Skills, Gifts and Ability
When you undercharge, hesitate to ask for a raise, or dismiss your natural talents as “nothing special,” you send the message that you don’t believe in your own value. This keeps opportunities at a distance, because the world reflects back to you what you project out into it. I used to deflect a compliment when anyone would give me one until I realized that this was affecting and even limiting my ability to attract opportunities, and to create more abundance in my life. In order to shift it, I did the following.
How to shift your energy: Start affirming your worth by practicing this: the next time someone compliments you, receive it fully instead of deflecting. Say, “Thank you, I appreciate that.” That's it, do not give reasons why, do not say anything else. It may seem uncomfortable at first, but the more you practice, the easier it gets and the more empowered you will feel. This small shift trains your nervous system to accept acknowledgment, which is directly tied to receiving wealth.
2. Operating From Scarcity Thinking
If your first thought is “there isn’t enough” or “I can’t afford that,” you reinforce a scarcity loop in your subconscious. Scarcity thinking keeps you in survival mode rather than growth mode. Changing this to a more abundant energy begins with the awareness of your inner dialogue.
How to shift your energy: Instead of immediately thinking about what you lack, reframe by asking, “How can I create the resources to make this possible?” This question expands your perspective and opens doors you couldn’t see when locked in lack. Instead of saying "I can't", replace it with I can and I am open to new possibilities to create what I need. This reframe is powerful because it doesn't deny reality, it expands it. By choosing empowering language and celebrating progress, you train your mind to notice the flow of abundance that is already present and attract more of it into your life.
3. Staying in Misaligned Environments
You may be tolerating jobs, relationships, or habits that keep you small. When you surround yourself with energy that doesn’t reflect your highest self, you naturally minimize your own worth.
How to shift your energy: Begin clearing space for new opportunities by releasing one misaligned thing this week. It could be an object in your home, a draining commitment, or even a self-critical thought. Every release creates room for abundance to enter.
4. Tying Your Worth to External Validation
If you only feel valuable when someone else approves of you, you’re handing over your power. True wealth begins with internal validation, the belief that you are worthy simply because you exist.
How to shift your energy: Practice writing down three qualities you appreciate about yourself every morning. Not achievements, but qualities, your kindness, creativity, strength and resilience. Over time, this daily practice rewires your brain to see your worth as inherent. Final Thought
Abundance doesn’t arrive when you’ve “proven yourself.” It arrives when you remember that you already are enough. The more you honor your own value, the more life mirrors that back to you in opportunities, money, relationships, love and peace of mind.
When you start affirming your self worth, you stop minimizing the flow of prosperity that’s been waiting to meet you and you shift the energy from lack to abundance and new perspectives.
